Joy died in 2014 at the age of 62.

Joy became a registered nurse and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She married her husband, Larry, around 1977. They had a son, Danny, who has two daughters. A classmate recalls Joy being very bubbly and always having a big smile on her face. She was a great friend who was there for you, no matter what. They always ended their visits with a hug and an “I love you.” Joy's husband Larry preceded her in death.
