On the occasion of our 20th Reunion, our class funded the "Class of 1969 Memorial Scholarship." What better way to honor deceased classmates and to thank the community that nurtured us. This scholarship has been awarded to a graduating senior every year since 1989. Currently (as of May 2024), there is $28,000. We are hoping to increase that fund so that our class is remembered well into the future.
Our class should be proud that it was the first class to initiate a scholarship, and one of just a few to have an ongoing scholarship for graduating seniors. We designate that our scholarship be awarded to a deserving student/citizen, who has been active in high school while also improving the St. Louis Park community.
Past recipients have used their award to attend 4 year universities, community colleges, nursing schools, and technical institutions. As St. Louis Park has become more diverse, our recipients have reflected that diversity: athletes, musicians, actors, a Russian emigre, and a Somali American. Our class should feel pride in our honorees!
Starting next year, our class is increasing our award to $1,000 each year for up to 4 years, for a total of $4,000 for each honoree. So, our honorees are receiving up to 4 years of help from our class!
As we gather again this year, please consider contributing to "The Class of 1969 Memorial Scholarship" and strengthen our legacy!
