Jean passed away in 2024 at the age of 73.

Less than a month before Jean’s passing, her husband, Craig passed away (on June 25th). Jean grew up in Minneapolis, and was active as a young child at her family’s small confectionary store. Jean was a brave little girl who would sneak candy and other sweets while her younger sister stood watch.

Jean went to Mankato State University, Augsburg University, the University of Minnesota, and ultimately getting her PhD in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2017. Jean completed her doctorate on sleep research and was a practical and research-based educator at Mankato State University, inspiring young nursing candidates. She was recognized as a true leader and educator in the nursing profession.

Jean loved the arts, playing the piano, and going to the Guthrie and Penumbra Theatres.

Jean is survived by her children Matthew (Kristin) Milner of Rogers, Julie (George) Hilbring of Chicago, and Adria (Shawn) Cheney of Monticello. Grandchildren Abby, Izzy, Layla, Marlee, Caroline and George.

Here are a few comments of what friends had to say about Jean:

> Jean was always kind, caring and concerned for others.

> Jean was one of the most genuine persons I have ever met. Everyone who met you loved you.

> You were intelligent, funny, a wonderful mother and wife, humane, a great friend, fun loving, caring person but strong willed and opinionated.

> You will be dearly missed at our reunions. I always looked forward to connecting with you there – both to see your smiling face and to engage with that outstanding personality!

I was so sad to read about Jean's passing this past year. We were friends in high school and I was so happy to see her at each of the reunions. I remember working on a homecoming float with her and we laughed our way through it. She was fearless in high school, which I admired so much. It took me years to develop the amount of confidence she had at that age. I knew she would be someone to make an impact on the world. And after reading her obituary, I see that she did indeed! I will think of you at the upcoming reunion. You are sorely missed!
