Connie died unexpectedly in 2024 at the age of 73.
The following was submitted by a group of Connie's classmate friends.
On Wednesday. 6/19/24, a group of classmates were able to visit with Connie at our bi-monthly lunch at Brookveiw Park after her husband's Celebration of Life which occurred the previous weekend. Little did we know that it would be the last time we would see her, as she died suddenly on July 11th at her home in Tucson.
Connie was an artist and an art teacher who also loved gardening and sharing her knowledge and passion with others. She went to Japan on a Fulbright Scholarship and was planning a trip to Finland where her ancestry is from. Specifically, she was Sami and with her great love of learning became an expert. She recently sent a Sami Sleigh to the Duluth Cultural Center for their permanent collection. She had an indigenous doll collection to teach children about diversity.
Connie was the second of seven children. Connie suffered several family losses in the year before she died. Her husband, Tom, passed away from cancer in June 2023; her older sister, Cheryl, passed away in October 2023; her youngest brother, Scott, passed away suddenly in late June 2024, just two weeks after the family held her husband, Tom's, Celebration of Life. Connie is survived by Debbie, Tammy, and Kevin in her immediate family. Brother Alan, born third, died in 2008.
Connie was married to Tom Coulter for 48 years. They had 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Son Ian and daughter Molly and granddaughter Tatum and grandson Luca survive them. Connie was always a willing helping hand to family and friends.
Connie will be very missed by all and through her art and teachings she left a part of herself that will never fade away. Words used by classmates to describe Connie: Bubbly, beautiful, smart, an artist, an amazing friend, kind, caring, warm, cheerful, a bright light with a great smile.
Here are some other comments from classmates:
> I loved my dear friend Connie. She was beautiful, smart, an artist., but best of all amazing friend. My heart goes out to Molly and Ian and her family.
> Always beautiful and such a sweet spirit. Rest in Peace Connie.
> Sad to hear of Connie’s passing! I’ve known Connie since kindergarten she always had that smile of hers! She will be missed!
> I'm glad I got to see her at her late husband's recent Celebration of Life gathering. Love this photo. I had such a huge crush on Connie all through grade school and beyond. Cutest girl I've ever seen. She will be missed.
