I am so excited to attend our 50th reunion! It has been such a great experience to work with the 20+ alumni on our reunion committee. I have been back in Minneapolis for 30 years now, having moved back from Los Angeles, where I lived for 11 years.  I have been married to Fred for 39 years, and we have two fabulous children, Matt and Michelle, who are in their 30's.  I retired from Hopkins School District in 2016, and have been substitute teaching for the past 3 years in 3 school districts (Hopkins, Robbinsdale and Osseo).  I love traveling, getting together with close high school friends, and volunteering at a community center where I play with babies and toddlers.  I can't wait to see all of you, and to reconnect with classmates whom I haven't seen in years!   --Caryn-- (alias "Cookie" to most of you.  I do prefer to be called "Caryn", though!)

Occupation: Retired
Comment: My husband and I have been together since 1976 and we were the first Jewish same gender couple in Minnesota to be married on August 1, 2013, officiated at Minneapolis City Hall be Mayor RT Rybak and Rabbi Michael Adam Latz.

Our family business, FirstTech, started as a radio repair shop in my parents basement in 1941. It evolved over the years and when it closed on March 29, 2014, it was the oldest independent Apple dealership in the country.

Throughout the years, I have been very involved in community. I have service on the boards of the East Calhoun Community Organization, Community Shares of Minnesota, Lesbian and Gay Bands of America, MetroIBA and others. I am currently on the board of the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company.

I am a founding member of the Minnesota Freedom Band, never imagining that the musical skills I learned in Mr. Bohm's Concert Band would result in me being able to perform in such venues as the Hollywood Bowl, Louise Davies symphone Hall in San Francisco, Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music, DAR Constitution Hall in DC, the Paramount Theater at Madison Square Garden - and to perform in the Inaugural Parades of Presidents Bill Clinton and Barak Obama.

I continue to enjoy biking and have raised over $85,000 in the last 16 years for 8 Minnesota agencies that help people with HIV/AIDS by riding 300 miles over four days in the Red Ribbon Ride. redribbonride.org.

I am wholly committed to the buy local movement. When you buy from a locally owned business, 3x as much much is recirculated into you local economy. buylocaltwincities.com

I have enjoyed many fabulous adventure vacations in recent years including travel to Cuba, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Educador (Galapagos), Greece, India, Italy,  Peru, Spain, Turkey, and SE Asia in the last dozen years.

Now I look forward to more time on my bike, in the garden and at the gym - and becoming a snowbird with each winter finding a new adventure.
